Features Your Website Must Have
July 18, 2009
Just don’t focus on the home page, keywords and titles.
The first step to sales when customers visit your site to see the products they were looking for. Of course, search engine optimization and better rankings can’t keep your customer on your site or make them buy. The customer having visited your site, now ensure that he gets interested in your products or services and stays around. Motivate him to buy the product by providing clear and unambiguous information. Thus if you happen to sell more than one product or service, provide all necessary information about this, may be by keeping the information at a different page. By providing suitable and easily visible links, the customer can navigate to these pages and get the details.
Understanding Your Target Customer
If you design a website you think will attract clients, but you don’t really know who your customers are and what they want to buy, it is unlikely you make much money. Website business is an extension or replacement for a standard storefront. You can send email to your existing clients and ask them to complete a survey or even while they are browsing on your website. Ask them about their choices. Why do they like your products? Do you discount prices or offer coupons? Are your prices consistently lower than others? Is your shipping price cheaper? Do you respond faster to client questions? Are your product descriptions better? Your return policies and guarantees better than your competitor’s? To know your customer you can check credit card records or ask your customer to complete a simple contact form with name, address, age, gender, etc. when they purchase a product.
Does your website give enough contact information?
When you sell from a website, your customer can buy your products 24 hrs a day and also your customers may be from other states that are thousands of miles away. Always provide contact information, preferably on every page of your website, complete with mailing address, telephone number and an email address that reaches you. People may need to contact you about sales, general information or technical problems on your site. Also have your email forwarded to another email address if you do not check your website mailbox often. When customer wants to buy online provide enough options like credit card, PayPal or other online payment service.
The Importance of Search Engines
July 18, 2009
It is the search engines that finally bring your website to the notice of the prospective customers. When a topic is typed for search, nearly instantly, the search engine will sift through the millions of pages it has indexed about and present you with ones that match your topic. The searched matches are also ranked, so that the most relevant ones come first.
Remember that a prospective customer will probably only look at the first 2-3 listings in the search results. So it does matter where your website appears in the search engine ranking.
Further, they all use one of the top 6-7 search engines and these search engines attract more visitors to websites than anything else. So finally it all depends on which search engines the customers use and how they rank your site.
It is the Keywords that play an important role than any expensive online or offline advertising of your website.
It is found by surveys that a when customers want to find a website for information or to buy a product or service, they find their site in one of the following ways:
- The first option is they find their site through a search engine.
- Secondly they find their site by clicking on a link from another website or page that relates to the topic in which they are interested.
- Occasionally, they find a site by hearing about it from a friend or reading in an article.
Thus it’s obvious the the most popular way to find a site, by search engine, represents more than 90% of online users. In other words, only 10% of the people looking for a website will use methods other than search engines.
All search engines employ a ranking algorithm and one of the main rules in a ranking algorithm is to check the location and frequency of keywords on a web page. Don’t forget that algorithms also give weightage to link population (number of web pages linking to your site). When performed by a qualified, experienced search engine optimization consultant, your site for high search engine rankings really does work, unless you have a lot of money and can afford to pay the expert. With better knowledge of search engines and how they work, you can also do it on your own.
How Do Search Engines Work – Web Crawlers
July 17, 2009
It is the search engines that finally bring your website to the notice of the prospective customers. Hence it is better to know how these search engines actually work and how they present information to the customer initiating a search.
There are basically two types of search engines. The first is by robots called crawlers or spiders.
Search Engines use spiders to index websites. When the search engine finds a link t your site, the search engine spider will index your entire site. A ‘spider’ is an automated program that is run by the search engine system. Spider visits a web site, read the content on the actual site and follows the links that the site connects. The spider then returns all that information back to a central depository, where the data is indexed. It will visit each link you have on your website and index those sites as well.
The spider will periodically return to the sites to check for any information that has changed. The frequency with which this happens is determined by the moderators of the search engine.
A spider is almost like a book where it contains the table of contents, the actual content and the links and references for all the websites it finds during its search, and it may index up to a million pages a day.
Example Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ask
When you ask a search engine to locate information, it is actually searching through the index which it has created and not actually searching the Web. Different search engines produce different rankings because not every search engine uses the same algorithm to search through the indices.
One of the things that a search engine algorithm scans for is the frequency and location of keywords on a web page, but it can also detect artificial keyword stuffing or spamdexing. Then the algorithms analyze the way that pages link to other pages in the Web. By checking how pages link to each other, an engine can both determine what a page is about, if the keywords of the linked pages are similar to the keywords on the original page.
I can say from my experience that the quality is the best success factor in any marketing efforts of the online business opportunity. With the word quality I mean a perceived quality, i.e. that quality, which your target audience has in their minds. Here are the requirements.
1. Your Online Business Opportunity Just Have To Be Able To Stand Out From The Crowd.
If nobody will notice your online business opportunity, why to run it online? The basic idea of online marketing is to get lots of attention from the people in the selected target group. Additionally your marketing efforts must be different, so that the target people will note them from the crowd of many other promises.
2. You Have To Grab The Surfer Interest By Promising Useful Things To Him In A Sexy Way.
The world of advertising is wonderful. We have to promise benefits, which are rational, but in the end of the day, all decisions are made by feelings. When you plan to increase the conversion rate of your home based business opportunity website, you have to utilize this truth.
It is not enough to promise a useful thing. On the top of that you have to do it in a tempting way, so that your promise makes the person to want your offer. This want is totally emotional feeling. When you have succeeded to do this, the call to action element must follow immediately.
3. Make Your Target Group Research Thoroughly.
To be able to influence on the target persons of your home business opportunity, it is clear that you have to know them well enough. The research in the net gives you enough insight about these people, but it is important to make this research well and to think the typical person in your target group repeatedly.
4. A High Conversion Rate Requires A Narrow Positioning.
We can say that the internet market is big enough for whatever niche offer. This means that your positioning can be very narrow. Many people think that the website should offer always a wide range of products and services, but this is not strategically wise.
As you see from the above text, to reach a high conversion rate is the result of planned and thought ideas. There is no secret in them and you can very easily reach them, when you take the time to plan them in advance and then to follow your plan.
Making the Most Out of Your Affiliate Tracking Software
April 10, 2009
All around the world, including in the United States, there are a large number of business owners who rely on affiliate programs. If properly implemented, affiliate programs can help to increase the number of sales an online business sees. If you are a business owner who already has your own affiliate program, it is likely that you also have affiliate tracking software. If you are a business owner who is interested in starting your own affiliate program, but has yet to, you will soon learn the importance of affiliate tracking software.
Affiliate tracking software is vital to the success of an affiliate program. With affiliate programs, business owners, such as yourself, rely on website owners to help increase their sales. This partnership often involves the displaying of your ads and links on your affiliate’s website. Affiliate tracking software tags those ads using a unique affiliate id. Every time one of your affiliates helps you generate a sale, the software you are using will record that sale. Often times, the date, time, and amount of the sale is also recorded. This information will allow you to know how much you should compensate your affiliates for their work.
If you have not already purchased affiliate tracking software, you will need to do so. However, it is important to be aware of what you are purchasing. There are many business owners who find out that they purchased the wrong type of affiliate tracking software, too late. Most affiliate tracking software programs accomplish the same goals, but they do so in different ways. This is by incorporating different services and features into their software. To make the most out of your next affiliate software purchase, you are advised to familiarize yourself with these services and features.
Perhaps, one of the first things you should look for is customer support. Most software programs come with customer support, but not all do. If you are using a software program for the first time or even if you develop a problem later on, you will want to be able to talk to someone who can assist you. Therefore, it is important that you find and purchase affiliate software that includes customer support. Once this is done, you are advised to use that support for any questions that you have, even the smallest ones. You will find that this support is more important than you ever imagined.
When examining the services and features of particular software, you will likely come across programs that offer varied commission levels. When starting your own affiliate program, you will assign a commission percentage to your affiliates. This percentage is often a flat rate for all, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. Affiliate tracking software with varied commission levels can allow you to compensate your affiliates in different ways. This is ideal, especially if you want to reward the affiliates that are brining in the most sales.
While it is important to make the most out of your affiliate tracking as soon as you get it, there is also a way to make the most out it before you even do. This is by fully reading and understanding all software descriptions, included services and features, and the costs of using that software. This is the best way to prevent yourself from being stuck with a software program that you cannot use, especially if it does not have features that you want or need. It is also important to determine the cost of affiliate tracking software and payment options. You will want to be on the lookout for monthly fees, yearly fees, and onetime fees. You should also determine ahead of time whether or not a cancellation notice is required. In the event that you decide to end your affiliate program or change tracking software, these fees may be more than you can afford or are willing to pay.
The above mentioned points are just a few of the ways that you can get the most from your affiliate program and its tracking software. To sum it all up, the more you know about what your affiliate tracking software can do, the more you will be able to do with it.
The best thing about blogging is that there are no rules. You can write about anything you want. A self-publisher’s dream! There are some things you can do though to maximize your Google Adsense profits. Narrow your subject. Don’t just write about shopping. Write about shopping for antique dresser drawer pulls. Write every day. Have a blog at more than one site. If you develop a readership, you’re more likely to increase your profits.
Write about something you know or want to know or at the very least care about. If you try to write a great blog based on a “hot keyword” yet it’s something you could care less about, you’ll likely not stay with it long. Experiment and see what works for you. You can write based on your own opinion or something factual. You can review a product or service or a movie. Read other people’s blogs and notice how many reads they’re getting. Above all, have fun. After all, it’s free and if you’re persistent you’ll see your Google Adsense dollars adding up.

Paid directories are a big part of small business blog marketing as well. You can pay some directories to list your blog URL in their directory under the specific category that it falls under. However, some of these even have specific qualifications that you must have to get in. Follow all of the application steps, and you should be ok. Just do not try to submit your blog to a directory that it does not qualify for, or fit in.

Small business blog marketing is not rocket science, however someone that has never marketed a single thing before in their life may have problems. Just be persistent, and don’t give up.
Using Online Courses for Internet Marketing
February 24, 2009
Online courses, or email courses are becoming an increasingly popular way for savvy Internet marketers to promote their products and services. Online courses or email courses essentially include short online presentations or emails which include insightful information on a particular niche subject. These courses are usually offered in multiple, short segments to keep the students interested in the topic. This type of advertising serves a useful purpose and many of the participants do not even realize they are being subjected to a marketing campaign. This article will discuss creating and distributing an online or email course for the purposes of advertising your business.
The creation of an online course of an email course should begin with a solid idea for a series of educational articles which pertain to your business and will be of interest to your potential customers. Educational email courses can sometimes be sold for profit themselves but if you are interested in using the courses as marketing tools you will most likely be offering these courses free of charge in an effort to entice potential customers to purchase your products or services.
Determining the topic of your courses is very important because it can dictate the success of your marketing effort. Consider an online retailer of running shoes. This business owner may want to develop a series of email courses on subjects such as training for a marathon, preventing injuries, increasing speed and running for fun. Each of these courses may contain a few segments which offer different perspectives on the subject. These courses are ideal for this business because they are subjects which are likely to be of interest to the customers of the business. Likewise a real estate agent may opt to offer email courses on subjects such as understanding mortgage options, finding a lender or house hunting. Again these are all subjects which are likely to be of interest to the real estate agents clients.
The distribution list for your online or email courses should mostly include members of your target audience. This can be achieved by either offering the course as a download online where only interested Internet users will partake in the course or only emailing the course to recipients who have specifically expressed an interest in receiving more information about your products and services and have submitted their email address for this purpose.
Once you decide on a subject for your online or email course, seek out a qualified writer to create the content for your online or email course. This will help to give your copy a more professional appearance. The writer can assist you by creating copy which is informative and useful to your readers but is also well written, clear, concise and easy to understand. If your niche topic is highly specialized you might have to provide the writer with product information as well as research materials to ensure the content is informative and accurate. Additionally, you should review the content once it is completed to verify the accuracy.
When distributing your email course or launching your online course, it is helpful to request feedback from the users as the conclusion of the course. This is completely voluntary but when users respond they can provide you with useful feedback which will be extremely helpful if you intend to launch a similar marketing campaign in the future.
